Revolutionizing Marathon Medals: A Blend of Design, Animation, and History

The Poznan Marathon Medal, designed by the Artmask Group, is a unique commemoration of the marathon's 20-year history. Each small element that makes up the medal symbolizes each year of the marathon. The medal's lanyard is printed with historical photos from all marathon editions, arranged in chronological order. This innovative approach to medal design presents a new way of celebrating the history and achievements of marathon runners.

The medal's design was realized using a variety of software, including Houdini, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, 3D Studio MAX, and Photoshop. The medal, cast in steel and silver, measures 80mm x 7mm x 80mm. The video presentation of the medal was produced in 4K resolution, providing a high-quality visual representation of the medal's intricate design and historical significance.

The project, which began in August 2019 and concluded in September 2019, was based in Poznan. The design team, consisting of Mateusz Kowalski and Wojciech Czub, faced the challenge of creating a unique animation scenario that effectively presented the ideas of the medal design and the 20 years of the Poznan Marathon. Despite the short timeframe, the team successfully overcame this challenge, producing a medal that is both visually stunning and historically meaningful.

Research conducted by the Artmask Group revealed that presenting the medal and marathon T-shirt in the form of professional animation positively increased the number of marathon runners. After the animation was presented, the number of people registered for the marathon increased by over 15%. This finding underscores the power of innovative design and its potential to inspire and motivate individuals.

The Poznan Marathon Medal was awarded Silver in the A' Movie, Video and Animation Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award recognizes top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The award is a testament to the Artmask Group's commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and animation.
